September 2012 Update

So the schools reopen and the sun comes out, why does it always work out like that?! There is still plenty of time to enjoy the garden so make the most of this late summer sunshine and there are still lots of flowers out.

The garden has been used quite a bit through the summer and it’s starting to show, there are several items that need replacing, the children’s cars are looking worse for wear as does the Wendy House. Please be careful when using the garden resources as we have very limited funds to replace broken equipment and toys. On this point the garden hose has been found in a tangled mess on two separate occasions, this is an expensive item to replace, please leave the garden hose undamaged and by the water tap where it lives for the veg plot holders to use.

We are still looking for new committee members, if you would like to know more feel free to contact me for an informal chat to find out more.

The monthly work party is on Sat 7th September 10am-12noon, we have a long list of things to do (see below), if you can help for all or some of this time it would be appreciated, there are things to do for all levels of ability.

Work party tasks:

* Sort “compost corner” separate compost material from woody burn material

* Collect up materials to burn from round the garden

* Weed flower beds and check over the rockery

* Tidy up and sweep entrance

* Cut grass

* Turn compost behind cabin – top up with grass cuttings

* Tidy Cabin

 I hope to see many of you in the garden soon,

Regards, Ricky Josey
